1:15 So I chose ¹  as your tribal leaders wise and well-known men, placing them over you as administrators of groups of thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens, and also as other tribal officials.

Ulangan 4:6

4:6 So be sure to do them, because this will testify of your wise understanding ²  to the people who will learn of all these statutes and say, “Indeed, this great nation is a very wise ³  people.”

Theological Justification of the Conquest

9:1 Listen, Israel: Today you are about to cross the Jordan so you can dispossess the nations there, people greater and stronger than you who live in large cities with extremely high fortifications. ⁴
